Tree Characteristics:
- A tall straight, elegant tree with distinctive drooping top, it reaches 200ft in height and 6ft 6in in diameter.
 - It produces large pieces of knot free timber.
 
Characteristics of the wood:
- A pale brown semi lustrous wood, with relatively distinct growth rings. It is even textured, has straight grain, and is not resinous.
 - It is not a durable wood and must be treated for exterior use.
 
Workability:
- Works well with hand and machine tools. It glues well.
 
Average dried weight:
- 31lb/cuft.
 
Finishing:
- Accepts paint, stain, varnish and polishes well.
 
Common uses:
- Joinery.
 - Plywood.
 - Building construction (often used in place of Douglas fir).
