Tree Characteristics:
- An American species of walnut, it is a relatively small tree, reaching about 50ft in height, with a trunk about 2ft 6in in diameter depending on growing conditions.
Characteristics of the wood:
- A straight grained coarse textured wood with medium brown to dark brown heartwood, but not as dark as black walnut, which it generally resembles.
- It is relatively soft weak wood and is noy naturally durable.
Workability:
- It works easily with hand and machine tools, but requires sharp cutting edges as it is rather soft.
- It glues well.

- 28lb/cuft.
Finishing:
- It stains well and polishes to a fine finish.
